“And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression”

Located in the heart of Hamilton, the Hamilton Downtown Mosque plays a central role in establishing a social and spiritual balance, gathering and serving a community of about 5,000 Canadian Muslims. 

Since 2012, HDM has been offering the five daily prayers, the Friday’s prayer, the Eid Al-fitr and Eid Al-adha prayers and Taraweeh prayers in Ramadan. Moreover, we cannot deny the social role of HDM providing counselling services such as religious marriage ceremony, mediation and distribution of Zakat for the needy.

Back in March 2014, the Hamilton Downtown Mosque had a rare opportunity to purchase a new building of 32,000 sq ft in the downtown core of Hamilton. In order to secure the property, which was selling for $3.5 million, we paid $1.4 million and took out the rest ($2.1 million) as an interest-free loan. The agreement with the lender was that we should pay the $2.1 million in full by the end of 2017.

By the end of January 2017, this loan was down to $860,000, Alhamdulillah!!!
